About Gramdaivat Indreshwar Temple Indapur

To the east of fort there was a river Indrayani now known as Pandhara, it has been said that people of that time ware bathing in the river and they were blessed by the presence of God Indreshwar. This ancient temple of Shri Indreshwar which is located at the west door in front of the fort of Veer Shri Malojiraje Bhosale.

The temple also has an ancient stone well. The stone well in front of the temple has clear water round the year. The whole of Maharashtra was experiencing drought in 1972. Even at the time above mentioned well was full of water and was fulfilling the need of the villagers. This temple was guarding the village, from all insecurity. The East gate was known as Paranda entrance (ves), the West gate known as Ram gate (ves), there were two more entrance gates in north and south direction, even today the remains of Ram ves are still visible as the urbanization around this temple increased, the temple started to lose its essence. During heavy rain fall the whole temple would get drowned in the water. Therefore current member of the trust rebuild the temple on the higher altitude and has done the entire renovation.



In 2018, by the hands of Swami Shri Mahamandaleshwar geeta bharti (mataji) holy shrine was planted at the temple. Since then Rudra abhishekh is performed daily in the month of shravan. In addition, the temple is open on Monday’s throughout the year and Aarti is performed daily at this place. People from all the communities in the city contribute to maintain the escacity of the temple. The contribution is also made by muslim community. In the year 1995 great historian Dr. Babasaheb Purandare visited Indapur and with the help of local devote he laid a stone sculpture of Virashree Maloji Raje Bhosale Paduka On Mahashivaratri Rudra Abhishekh is perform along with Bhajan and Kirtan and the entire temple is covered with paper flag. The entire city celebrate this occasion by making local delicacies such as puran poli.

The President of Shri Indreshwar Devstan trust Mr.Rajendra Washimbekar along with Mr. Ashok Ghodke, Mr. Devraj Dixit, Mr. Girish Gurav, Mr. Ramakant Vedpathak , & other young activist of this committee contribute enthusiastically for social and political programmers successfully. Lot of people from across Maharashtra visits Indreshwar temple & it has become famous tourist attraction.
